A Celebration Fit for a 1-Year-Old

First of all, thank you all so much for your kind words and encouragement in regards to the birth story. It was a very cathartic thing for me to do, and on the first anniversary no less!

Now, we had been planning all along on having a birthday party for 5, but when it came down to it, we couldn't really get our act together. So, instead, we decided to celebrate by doing all the things 5 loves best (I apologize in advance for not having pics of everything).

We opened and closed all the doors in the house (about 100 times)

5 got to unroll all the toilet paper needed for the day.

We brushed my hair (for obvious reasons, I don't usually let him help...).

We clicked all of the pens, over and over again.

We unsorted all of Mom's scrap fabric.

We shot rubberbands (5 taught himself to do this last week).

Once Dad got home, 5 chased him all over the house.

We opened presents, with only minimal parental assistance. (I tell you, we were opening presents for, like, 2 hours!)

We had birthday panCAKEs, with strawberries and whipped cream. Yum!

Lastly, after all that exhausting celebration, 5 took an almost 4 hour nap. Whew!

If you're around Thanksgiving weekend, 5 must meet my 2 1/2 y.o. niece Leona. She loves babies & she takes hours to opens gifts. I'll tell you about our nearly 12 hour x-mas gift opening in Duluth the next time I see you!

parties for the first year are cute, but your day sounds a lot more fun, and honestly, more memorable. but i might be biased, cause it's kind of how i like to spend my birthdays anymore- just steadily doing things i like without too much fuss.

hooray for a whole year accomplished! he's a beauty.

Love that shot of him clutching his little fork!
Wish I could have been there to read Brookie and her Little Lamb so 5 could say Baaa!
What an excellent birthday.
